Tooth Coloured White Fillings

Tooth Coloured White Fillings

When decay has eaten away at a tooth a hole remains, sometimes this might look like a shadow. The dentist needs to remove the decay and fill the remaining hole produced, hence the term ‘filling’.

White fillings material known as ‘composite’ is used most commonly to fix a cavity or defect in the tooth. The composite resin is tooth coloured and is carefully bonded to the tooth to maintain a strong result. The composite is cured by a light as part of the procedure to ensure the product has set. The advantages of using composite resin are not only for aesthetic benefits but also due to the strength of the material.

The composite are available in many shades which allows the dentist to match to the tooth which is being filled.
